Betty Suarez (America Ferrera)

Beatriz Suarez, or most commonly known as Betty, is an aspiring individual to have a fortune in the magazine industry someday. Betty’s dream started coming into life when she was hired to be the assistant of one of the executives in a fashion magazine. With her not so pleasing physical appearance, Betty strived to survive in the industry where the face is the number one tool to succeed. She was discriminated by her coworkers because of her looks, but with her kind heart, Betty found new friends who found the beauty of her heart. Also, with the great ideas that Betty shares, the fashion magazine found her very useful.

America Ferrera

Betty is portrayed by actress America Ferrera, whose career blossomed after portraying the said role. America Ferrera was born on April 18,1984 in Honduras. Ferrera also portrayed a role in RealWomen Have Curves and in the movies Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants and Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants 2. She also landed a small role in the project The Dry Land and the Lords of Dogtown back in 2005. Aside from film, Ferrera also shared her voice in the animated film How to Train a Dragon where she gave life to the character of Astrid the Viking.

Teaming up with Betty, Marc and Amanda convince Kimmie to remove a necklace Wilhelmina wants in the shoot. At the last minute, however, Betty has a crisis of conscience and tries to tell Kimmie to put the necklace back in, but Kimmie doesn’t believe her. Wilhelmina fires Kimmie on the spot when she refuses to use the necklace. Meanwhile, renowned CFO joins Meade. [...]

Betty insists on working alone, but as she was looking at the books, she realized that the company was missing money. Betty discreetly asks around and soon she realizes through the ATM that she is $100,000 richer. Connor reveals to Betty that he had been stealing from the company and she learns that not only was the money transferred from Meade to her account, the records also showed that “B. Suarez” authorized the transfer. Connor, who is about to fly away to a foreign country with his stolen riches, asks Wilhelmina to come with her, or stay if she chooses her career over love. Willy stays but the police are unable to nab Connor. [...]
