ABC drama Ugly Betty has some comic relief. Vanessa Williams has just discovered the rivalry she has with Claire Meade (Judith Light) and this makes her character grow in the show. There is nothing that would bring this rivalry to an end.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Vanessa stated that she feels personal challenge on her character as Wily Wilhelmina Slater from Claire. The fact that these women are of a certain age is what makes the rivalry tasty. This is said by Vanessa as she also explains that she has enjoyed going back and fourth with Claire.

Each day, Willy would refer to Claire as a corpse and Claire would say to Willy that she is a scheming, conniving bitch.

Vanessa’s role in this drama has earned her a couple of Emmy nominations. She appreciates those who are behind the scenes. She says the writers of the drama are just amazing as she never has an idea on what she would say and it just happens.

The 46 year old actress further states that they are in the process of shooting episode 11 of the drama and she would be trying Becki Newton. She will be luring her the way the evil queen did in Snow White.

She gives and example of when she calls her Amanda and she still does not realize that is her name even after 4 years.

She is certain that the strong self assurance of the character she plays is what keeps her up there. She says further that the strong character of Wilhelmina is about stance, carriage and the facial expression.

She has done 4 seasons of Ugly Betty but she is not about to stop. She loves the role of Wilhelmina and she says she loves going to work on the role and it has been her best role in her lifetime.
