Wilhelmina Vivian Slater used to be the personal assistant of Fey Sommers, the then editor of Mode magazine. But when Fey was murdered, Wilhelmina was promoted as the Editor in chief of Mode. She undermined Daniel, who was supposedly the successor of the throne. Wilhelmina won the trust of Alexis Meade when Alexis was recovering from gender operation. Wilhelmina was Alexis’ informant for whatever is happening in the Meades. In exchange for everything that Wilhelmina has done, Alexis appointed her of the highest position in the company, by passing Daniel who was supposedly the successor. From then on, Wilhelmina planned on gaining full control of the company and making everything work for her advantage. Daniel and Wilhelmina do not have a good working relationship and always have conflicts. Even the staffs of Mode are scared of Wilhelmina.

Vanessa Williams plays the role of Wilhelmina Slater. Born on March 18, 1963, Williams first made fame as R&B and pop recording artist and later on ventured on acting. Williams is actually the first African-American who was crowned as the Miss America. However, the title did not last long after a scandal made her give up the title. Williams has received numerous awards from Emmy, Tony and Grammy awards. She also became part of the cast of Desperate Housewives which airs on ABC.
